After the continuous Mac OS X Lion previews for over a month, Apple has finally seeded the Mac OS X Lion Gold Master version ahead of its debut in the Mac App Store in July. It is rumored that the final version of the Operating System will arrive on 14 July along with a refreshed models of Macbook Air & white Macbook. There is no confirmation on the exact date of the Mac OS X Lion release but it seems that we will be able to use it very soon.
Before releasing any OS publicly, wether it is meant for mobile or laptop, Apple always seeded the Gold Master version which is assumed to be equivalent to the final release for developers. It implies that developers should test all of their application or games which will use the capability of the next generation OS. Apple previewed some of the unique features of Mac OS X Lion at WWDC keynote such as airdrop, autosave, launchpad, mission control, full screen applications, etc.
You will be able to download Mac OS X Lion through an Over The Air (OTA) update which will constitute 4GB of data seamlessly pushed to your Mac running Snow Leopard. It will cost $29.99 from the Mac App Store.
Stay tuned for the changes in the GM version!
